As discussed in the introduction itself , Alan Curtis Kay was the man behind the idea of DynaBook which can be treated as the first concept portable computer. In the early yeas itself Kay has a clear vision about the use of his invention . The Dyna book was designed as a study tool for children’s and considered the first computing concept aimed at a student. After the Dynabook this concept remained almost forgotten for a long while and the children’s got so many other electronic gadgets toy get play with like the video games.
The basic design idea behind a children’s computational equipment will be the the easy of use, rugged , waterproof , dust proof design which can withstand anything that a child like to do with it. Even though so many computational devices were developed that aid a child in the learning process , it remained a high priced creamy layer products only used by upper income bracket persons in the developed countries.
Alan Kay was never satisfied with the trends in computer industry only targeting the high end market products and proprietary software’s. So he become part of a new and promising project to full fill his dream and co-developed a project called One Laptop Per Child ( OLPC ) which was begun and sustained by his close friend , Nicholas Negroponte . This project is also known as $100 Laptop project.
